ALERTS

The Creston Water System is proactively trying to manage water issues preemptively due to predicted freezing weather.

Therefore, we are asking that all of those who have camps or uninhabited dwellings to please turn off your water and drain your lines.  If you are not available to do so, please text 318-471-4714 with your name and service location and we will turn it off for you today.

We are asking residents of CWS to please prepare you pipes by wrapping them, leave water dripping (not running) if necessary, open cabinets that contain pipes, and know where your cutoff valve is in case your pipes freeze and burst.

Water Rate Increase

The Creston Water System will increase the monthly base rate to $42.00 for residential customers, effective March 13, 2025.

The old system has recently been replaced with a new water treatment plant, pump station, water tank, generators, and some distribution lines as required by the Louisiana Department of Health.  This was completed through a grant of over one million dollars from the Water Sector Program and Louisiana Office of Community Development - Local Government Affairs.

The rate increase is a requirement of the grant to fund the operation, maintenance, and expenses for repair and replacement of the old system over a 20-year period as well as to ensure the stability of the water system's financial health. The rates are reflective of the requirements presented to the board from a study completed by Frees and Nichols.

The new system will provide better service and fewer disruptions of water to all CWS customers.

Thank you for the continued support you have given to our water system management board.

The rate change is as stated below:

Residential Customers

$42.00 for 0-2000 gallons Base Rate;

$4.25/1000 gallons after the first 2000 gallons Volumetric Charge;

Commerical Customers

$168.00 for 0-8,000 gallons Base Rate;

$5.75/1000 gallons after the first 2000 gallons Volumetric Charge;

Multi Rates 2, 3, 4 are equivalent to residential rates times 2, 3, and 4 respectively.
